Senior Advisory Board

This nine (9) member advisory board is appointed by the City Council and meets as needed. Members include a minimum of five (5) Evans residents with the remaining members coming from either Evans or surrounding communities as representative of the user base of all senior services programs. Duties include review and development advice to the Senior Coordinator for programs and to volunteer at various activities.

The Senior Advisory Board was established by resolution in January, 1983, and the following outlines the board's powers and duties: 

  • To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission, Director of Public Works, Director of Recreation, and the Senior Coordinator regarding matters relating to senior recreational programs, all other associated activities held at the Evans Senior Center, and Municipal Museum operations sponsored by the City.
  • To formulate recommendations for Senior Citizens recreational services in Evans.
  • To advise the Parks and Recreation Commission and the City Manager regarding problems of recreation areas, facilities, programs, and improved recreational services concerning Senior Citizens.
  • To formulate efforts to discover, collect, preserve, and display historical material relating to the Evans area and its exploration, settlement, and development; its activities in peace and war; and its progress in population, wealth, education, art, science, agriculture, trade, transportation, and social life.
  • To make recommendations on any related subject as requested by the City Council
