The exterior of all properties must be kept free of accumulated junk, litter, and trash. All waste must be disposed of properly and may not be left in a yard, on a sidewalk, on a trailer or in a street or alley. See Chapter 8.24.060 of the Municipal Code.
Trash refers to any material rejected or discarded, including but not limited to garbage, food waste, animal feces, paper, cans, bottles, glass, containers, rags, cloth, or other materials.
Junk is any item located outdoors that is broken, discarded, or not reasonably useable, including but not limited to boxes, crates, salvage materials, discarded fence posts, tires, motor vehicle bodies or parts, scrap metal, bedsprings, discarded furniture and all other household goods or appliances.
The outdoor storage of materials not customarily stored outdoors in residential neighborhoods, such as, but not limited to, construction materials, tires and household appliances, pickup campers, truck bed covers, or upholstered furniture that is designed, manufactured and intended primarily for indoor use is prohibited. To report trash, junk, or improper outdoor storage contact Jacque Ehrett at (970) 475-1120.
