Economic Development Advisory Council

This advisory board is appointed by the City Council and meets on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm. The Advisory Council is comprised between eleven (11) and fifteen (15) members.

This advisory council was established in June, 2010, and the following outlines the powers and duties:

This advisory council is to advise the City Council in areas of economic development including, but not limited to: recruitment of new businesses, retaining existing businesses, expanding the business base, filling the gaps in our retail business mix, attracting primary industrial employment and jobs, increasing the standard of living for our residents, regional partnerships in northern Colorado that relate to economic development, business surveys, attendance at economic development conferences and events.

This council is staffed by the Economic Development Director and other staff as needed and consists of 11 to 15 members, all of whom must reside here, work here or own a business located in Evans, or have a specific interest in economic development in Evans. Typical membership would include a representative from the following groups:

• Evans Area Chamber of Commerce
• Large retail (Wal Mart would be an example)
• Small retail (Franchise type stores)
• Locally owned retail (Non chain, non franchise)
• Developer
• Real Estate
• Attorney
• Accountant
• Home Based Business Owner
• Construction (builder or rep from the builder’s association)
• School/Education (from District 6, or teacher that lives here, etc)
• Banking
• Energy Industry
• Manufacturing
• Restaurant (either chain or local)
• Gas station
• HOA
• Manufacturing
• Oil/Energy Industry
• Former City Councilmember
• Former Planning Commissioner
