Child Safety Seat Inspections

To make an appointment call 339-3920. According to the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, "More than 81% of child restraints are used incorrectly, including 88% of forward facing toddler seats, 86% of rear facing infant seats and 85% of safety belts." Please ensure your child's safety by calling to schedule an appointment at (970) 339-3920.

Smoke Detector Program
The Evans Fire District maintains a limited number of smoke detectors. These detectors are available for use by residents that are experiencing severe economic difficulty, and who would otherwise be unable to obtain a smoke detector. Inquiries can be made by calling (970) 339-3920.

Fireworks
Certain low hazard fireworks are legal in the City of Evans. These are defined as Division 1.4G fireworks and are commonly called consumer fireworks. These types of fireworks contain only a very small amount of pyrotechnic material, produce only a noise and visual effect and cannot leave the ground. They do not include fire crackers, pop bottle rockets, roman candles, cherry bombs and similar more powerful fireworks that are illegal under Colorado state law. The link below will take you to a printable brochure on the City of Evans Fireworks Regulations.

The Evans Fire District and City of Evans Police Department actively enforce fireworks regulations in Evans. Illegal fireworks will be confiscated and persons using illegal fireworks will be subject to a summons to Municipal Court with a minimum fine of $120.

Emergency Preparedness
Emergency sirens are maintained by the Evans Fire District  for use in notifying citizens in the event of an emergency. Typically these sirens are tested once a year. Prior to these tests, a notice will be placed in the Greeley Tribune.

Citizens are advised to know what to do in case of an emergency:
- Keep a three day supply of food and water on hand
- Keep extra personal hygiene and prescription supplies on hand
- It is recommended that every household develop and practice an exit from the home drill
- All participants should know several ways out of their residence and report to a prearranged family gathering location.
- Persons wishing assistance with developing their plan may call the Evans Fire District  for assistance at 339-3920.
