Permits are required for lawn sprinkler systems, decks, patio covers, re-roofing, re-siding, remodels, additions, basement finishing and similar projects. Permits are not required for fences under six feet in height, utility sheds having less than 120 square feet or most concrete flatwork such as sidewalks. The placement of fences must comply with regulations related to clear vision zones for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Utility sheds must maintain varying setbacks from the property line in accordance with the particular zoning district in which they are located. There are specific requirements related to projects such as the widening of a driveway.
